Ogun TAMPAN Applauds Crescent University for Sponsoring 20th Anniversary Stage Play

The Ogun State Chapter of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), led by its Governor, Comrade Owolabi Yekuola Ajasa, JP, has commended the management of Crescent University, Abeokuta, for sponsoring a grand stage production titled ASIRI ILU EGBA in celebration of the institutions 20th anniversary.

 

In an official statement, the Association extolled the Proprietor and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Prince Maruf Adesegun Ajibola, SAN; the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Gbajabiamila; and the Registrar, Barr. Zakariyya Ajibola, for their vision and financial commitment to the historic project.

 

TAMPAN also lauded the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Kola Adesina, toriginator of the concept who chaired the 20th Anniversary Committee that approved the inclusion of the stage play in the celebration lineup.

 

The historical drama, ASIRI ILU EGBA,” was researched and narrated by Dr. Adesina, while the scriptwriting and direction were skillfully executed by renowned filmmaker, Mr. Yinka Saliu Kareem, popularly known as Y.S. Kareem. The production captivated the audience with its rich cultural storytelling, earning repeated applause for its vivid portrayal of the heritage and evolution of Egbaland.

 

Speaking after the performance, Comrade Ajasa described the collaboration as a landmark in the relationship between the academic and creative sectors,” highlighting its significance as a model of the long-advocated town and gown” synergy.

 

He emphasized that the success of the performance was made possible by the unwavering support of the university management and the anniversary planning committee.

 

Dr. Adesina, in his remarks, reiterated the importance of sustained collaboration between academia and creative industry practitioners to foster innovation and cultural preservation.

 

The production featured an impressive ensemble of celebrated industry icons and emerging talents, including Pa Tubosun Odunsi, Pa Moses Omilani Egunleti, Alhaji Ebun Oloyede (Igwe Theatre), Hon. Gbenga Adebayo-Oladunni, Emir Kayode Akindina, Yeye Yetunde Kehinde-Aina, Prince Adeleke Adetutu, Rev. Adedegun Adesina, Prince Temilade Adelesi, Yeye Olaitan Ayopo, Prince Luqman Idowu Adeniji (Alwajud), Segun Ogungbe, Dare Agbejo, Mosun Adesanya, Yeye Funmi Sonola, Alhaja Yinka Adebanjo, Chief Funmi Soyewo, Amb. Olu Olowogemo Harejan, Amb. Abosede Aregbesola, Kofoworola Olusola, Enitan Eniafe, Idowu Adenekan, Gbenga Edun, Lekan Olatunji, Yemi Jimoh, Biola Adekunle, among many others.

 

The Global President of TAMPAN, Otunba Dr. Bolaji Amusan (Mr. Latin), applauded the Ogun State Chapter for upholding the Associations tradition of excellence and professionalism. He noted that such initiatives would continue to position Nigerian theatre as a strong cultural export on the global stage.

 

Meanwhile, Ogun TAMPAN reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships that promote education, culture, and artistic innovation across the state and beyond.
